Your face is your canvas to the world and there are so many pictures you can paint on it for people to see and admire. The smile dancing around the edges of your lips. The twinkle in your eyes. The furrow of your brows. The make up you wear or don't wear all go a long way to tell a story about you on a particular day.

What about your jewelry? They are another beautiful medium for leaving a beautiful portrait on your face. From nose rings to earrings, jewelry are a wonderful way of perking up your face and looking fabulous no matter the occasion.

Now let's dive right in.

Square Face: For women with wide square jaws, you may sometimes want to soften the hard edges of that jawline. Medium to long earrings with rounded edges are your best bet. Oval shapes soften things up, and circular earrings and hoop earrings work well too. Try to avoid  square studs or any kind of earring with a square as it only emphasizes that square jawline.

Naomi Harris is definitely on our square shape list and is rocking it with these gorgeous jewels.

Having said this there are gals who break the rules and it works perfectly. Which is why I'm all for experimenting and breaking the rules now and then. Check out the gorgeous square faced Zoe Kravitz in this bold emerald square cut earrings. I think it suits her perfectly and oozes confidence.

Round Face: For our circle faced babes, your face is widest at the cheekbones. To make your face look longer and slimmer, wear long drop or dangle earrings. Keep away from large circular earrings, hoops and button studs which only emphasize the roundness.

Emma Stone rocks in these gorgeous long dangle number.

Heart Shaped Face: Look in a mirror. Go on. Is your forehead wider than your cheeks? Does the lower half of your face narrow like a heart? You have a heart-shaped face. Those with triangle face also have similar features except that they have slightly longer chins. You will need to balance out your sharp chin with chandelier or tear drop earrings. Earrings that are wider at the bottom than the top help fill in the lower portion of your face, to create a balance. However Ruth Negga has broken this rule and looks stunning anyway.

Long and Narrow Face: If you have a long, thin face go for earrings that will help widen your face slightly. Studs, clustered earrings, short dangles, hoops in a medium to large size are perfect and that's exactly what Issa Rae has done here. check out Rosie Huntington Whiteley though. similar shape although slightly narrower. Her's is a clear deviation from the rule and she looks stunning.

Oval Shaped Face: Triangular earrings or simple studs will show off your lovely cheekbones best! You can also wear long, dangle, drop or chandelier earrings. In fact women with oval shaped faces can get away with wearing most styles of earrings.

Rhianna looks cool in this simple stud earrings which perfectly complements her entire look and it made sense to tone it down a little because of the dramatic hairstyle and make up.

and yes Tyra does look elegant in these beautiful dangle earrings.

So what's the point of all this? Rules can be broken. Know your face and what suits you. Consider the occasion, your personality, style, outfit and colour when accessorizing your ears. They do make a difference!
